GoHuman Tactical Urbanism

We worked with the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) to create four tactical urbanism demonstrations in cities around Southern California—Palm Desert, El Centro, Westminster, and the Los Angeles neighborhood of Boyle Heights. The demonstrations included temporary parklets, bike lanes, crosswalks, and other transformations that allowed residents to re-imagine their streets as more inviting public places and to give local policy makers feedback on what would make the streets safer and more inclusive.

We worked in collaboration with the consultant team—cultural event producers Community Arts Resources, the non-profit architecture and design studio KDI, and community development specialists ELP Advisors—to develop a kit of parts for these demonstrations: signage with bilingual quotes, street furniture, wayfinding, spray chalk, and temporary infrastructure such as bike lanes, crosswalks, and roundabouts.
